Description

Step into the world of strategy, intellect, and precision! Join us for an exciting Inter School Chess Tournament, where every move matters and every mind is tested.

Event Flow

1. Opening Ceremony (welcome + rules explanation) — 9:00 AM to 9:30 AM
2. Rounds as per Swiss System (number depends on players).
3. Result Collection & Pairing Updates after each round.
4. Final Standings & Tie-Breaks.
5. Prize Distribution & Closing Ceremony.

Time Control: 10 mins per player (Rapid)

Rounds: Swiss System (total rounds depend on number of players)

Judging Criteria

At the end, the player with the highest points after all rounds + tie-breaks is declared the winner.

Tie-Break Criteria:

1. Buchholz System (sum of opponents’ scores)
2. Progressive Score (cumulative points round by round)
3. Direct Encounter (head-to-head result)

General Rules

• Touch-Move Rule: If a player touches a piece, they must move it (if legally possible).
• Checkmate / Stalemate: Players must stop the clock and call the arbiter.
• Draw Claims: Allowed by agreement or if the same position is repeated three times.
• Arbiter’s Decision: Final and binding in case of disputes.

Fair Play Rules

• No mobile phones, electronic devices, or outside assistance allowed during the game.
• Players must remain in the playing hall until their game is completed.
• Disturbing opponents is not allowed (talking, touching pieces unnecessarily, etc.).
• Any cheating attempt → immediate disqualification.
