Description
Step into the world of strategy, intellect, and precision! Join us for an exciting Inter School Chess Tournament, where every move matters and every mind is tested.
Event Flow
- Opening Ceremony (welcome + rules explanation) — 9:00 AM to 9:30 AM
- Rounds as per Swiss System (number depends on players).
- Result Collection & Pairing Updates after each round.
- Final Standings & Tie-Breaks.
- Prize Distribution & Closing Ceremony.
Time Control: 10 mins per player (Rapid)
Rounds: Swiss System (total rounds depend on number of players)
Judging Criteria
At the end, the player with the highest points after all rounds + tie-breaks is declared the winner.
Tie-Break Criteria:
- Buchholz System (sum of opponents’ scores)
- Progressive Score (cumulative points round by round)
- Direct Encounter (head-to-head result)
General Rules
- Touch-Move Rule: If a player touches a piece, they must move it (if legally possible).
- Checkmate / Stalemate: Players must stop the clock and call the arbiter.
- Draw Claims: Allowed by agreement or if the same position is repeated three times.
- Arbiter’s Decision: Final and binding in case of disputes.
Fair Play Rules
- No mobile phones, electronic devices, or outside assistance allowed during the game.
- Players must remain in the playing hall until their game is completed.
- Disturbing opponents is not allowed (talking, touching pieces unnecessarily, etc.).
- Any cheating attempt → immediate disqualification.
